One of Maryland’s oldest towns, Port Tobacco, was settled shortly after the establishment of the Maryland colony in 1634 by Lord Baltimore. Port Tobacco was one of the mid-Atlantic’s busiest seaports. From it’s docks, ships loaded with tobacco and other products from Southern Maryland sailed to European Ports.
