Sertã is a hidden gem in central Portugal, set amongst river valleys, rolling hills, forests & pretty villages. There are many hiking trails & river beaches in the area around River Zezere. The outdoor space is fenced, furnished and exclusive for guests. Set within a 3-hectare farm, you can enjoy contact with animals, orchards and green areas in a peaceful and authentic rural setting. Traditional breakfast available as an optional extra (€9per person/day), with fresh regional bread.

House of Schist in the center of Portugal

Three schist houses being restored at the village of Cunqueiros, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova, form the Casas da Encosta project. Here it’s possible to relive the life history and culture of the region’s people in the comfort of a typical Portuguese village. According to the owner, Nuno Caldeira, the houses are being restored following the local construction tradition where schist, clay and wood are featured. One of them, Casa da Lagariça, has already opened.

The spacious covered terrace has an outside kitchen. Situated at the edge of a small village, 21 km from Castelo Branco in a beautiful area suitable for hiking. Several natural beaches nearby, nearest 8km. Horseback-riding, without experience, at 9km.

A Casa de Campo da Quinta das Canaveias dispõe de dois quartos de casal e um quarto com duas camas de solteiro. Os hóspedes podem contar ainda com uma cozinha equipada com eletrodomésticos de última geração (fogão e forno, frigorífico, máquina de lavar louça, micro-ondas, torradeira), casa de banho ampla e arejada, sala de estar munida de televisão de ecrã plano e espaçoso terraço com churrasqueira.

The living space features two bedrooms with double beds and a third bedroom with a bunk bed—ideal for families or small groups. Pets are very welcome, but please keep them on a lead to protect our resident cats and to ensure dogs don’t roam into other guest or private areas.
