Casa MIlà or locally known La Pedrera is another landmark of Barcelona. It is on Passeig de Gràcia, close to Casa Batllo, so both can be visited (maybe one form outside) at once. Another example of original catalan modernist architecture. Views from top of La Pedrdera are incredible.

Another example of original catalan modernist architecture. Views from top of La Pedrdera are incredible.

Particularly outstanding is the horizontal-structure of its buildings. It is absolutely stunning and I would recommend visiting the church, preferably in late afternoon , around 7pm to avoid crowds.

A wonderful caffe restaurant - although it is a bit hidden - is La Font del Gat - its more of a hidden architectural treasure to me than a caffe (as it has always been closed when I went there) but magical to me. Its a romantic spot too.

A wonderful park with a small labyrinth (small for London standards!). The park is very special place with amazing historic house and a pond attached to it. Wonderful views of Barcelona form Horta.

A foundation of a famous and very influential catalan artist Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012). There is a permanent exhibition of Tapies' work, and also always a temporary exhibition (housed downstairs) of another contemporary artist.
Antoni Tàpies; Spanish painter, lithographer and etcher, born in Barcelona. Studied law at Barcelona University 1943-6, then gave this up to devote himself to painting. Studied for two months in 1944 at a drawing school in Barcelona, the Valls Academy; otherwise self-taught. In 1945-7 made many works with thick impasto, collages, found objects and graffiti. Took part with other young painters and writers from Barcelona in the creation of the group and periodical Dau al Set 1948. Painted delicate romantic Surrealist pictures influenced by Miró and Klee in 1949-52. First one-man exhibition at the Galerias Laietanes, Barcelona, 1950. Lived in Paris 1950-1 on a French government scholarship, and has since made frequent visits to Paris. Turned to abstract art in 1952 and began soon afterwards to use thick, highly textured impasto incorporating such materials as clay and marble dust, together with incised and scribbled lines, lacerations, etc.; images sometimes evoking doors, battered walls, incised tablets or parts of the human body. Awarded in 1958 the First Prize for painting at the Pittsburgh International, and the UNESCO and David E. Bright Prizes at the Venice Biennale. From c.1970 frequently incorporated real objects such as buckets and pieces of furniture in his works.

The Fundació Joan Miró was created by Miró himself, at first principally with works from his own private collection, with a desire to set up an internationally recognised centre in Barcelona for Miró scholarship and contemporary art research, and to disseminate the collection. The Fundació opened to the public on 10 June 1975 and has since become a dynamic centre in which Joan Miró’s work coexists with cutting-edge contemporary art.
With an interdisciplinary approach, the Fundació organises temporary exhibitions of 20th and 21st century artists as well as academic activities and projects in collaboration with other institutions and organisations. Through its exhibition and educational programmes, the Fundació Joan Miró explores lines of research linked to the work of Miró and to contemporary art.

Palau de la Musica is a great place to go for a concert, and not only to listen to the music but also to admire the fantastic interior done in Barcelona modernista style. It is a beautiful place to invite someone for a concert.

Palace Macaya is 3-5 minutes walk from the apartment. Its another wonderful modernist palace, turned into a museum. For anybody interested in architecture, and modernist Barcelona, I would recommend it. Its opened Monday to Friday from 10: 00h to 14: 00h and again from 16: 00h to 20: 00h. In case you do not have much time but still wish to use little time you have to see something, this one is a convenient one, as its 3-5 minutes walk from the apartment. Its on Passeo Sant Joan, just above Diagonal, next to Verdaguer metro station.

Woke Organic Market is much bigger but quality of fruits and vegetables is not as great as in Cal Rosset.
