Sunday Brunch is very nice and you can make a day out of it, what we sometimes do. As a non guest for a small fee you can use the pool, get towels as well. And combine brunch with a day at the pool and (with kids) get some of their bikes and do a little bicycle riding along the golf course. I am not a golf player, but if you are than the whole family gets to do what they like, and share the moments at the brunch table.

There are many malls now: this is one of the more balanced ones in design. Burger King, Starbucks it is all there. But we mostly go here for the movies on the upper floor, and just before or after have a coffee at the Mongo Chocolate place close to the cinema. Mongo is made by a Belgium entrepreneur and their chocolate is not only artisan but Belgium good! Oh yes - in the basement there is one sushi place - really good!

Jalan Ring Road UtaraThere are many malls now: this is one of the more balanced ones in design. Burger King, Starbucks it is all there. In the South. Kasongan. More handicraft than you can take home. Only one 1000 meter long street. In the middle of it this store, huge. I am sure you will walk out with something.
In the same street for lunch the only restaurant there Aroma. Fresh Javanese food.

It is just a nice experience and with kids even more so. It is like a fairy tale land. Nothing spectacular happens there, but it is just a place for some 'wonder'!

Must see. Unesco heritage site. Even when you live here you go there every once and while. Keeps amazing this huge Buddhist temple complex. Consider doing a Borobudur Sunrise excursion.

Less than 30 km away this is one of many beaches in the South. Lava sand beach - lots of activities and couleur locale. Good for long beach walks. Not so much for swimming. Still a great day out.

You can buy tickets at the entrance, quite often older man dressed in traditional palace costumes (the real thing mind you), offer to walk you around. It is not much of a help, but it is their way to make bit of extra income and they are very proud of this place. When you are done or want to continue by yourself you say many thanks (terima kashi) give discreetly whatever you like to give. Let your heart speak. It is an interesting visit. The Sultan is still there, the only Royal family in the Republic with the special status Yogya has. You see carriages, antique cars and the place breathes a special atmosphere.

The ruins of Raty Boka temple. Ruins for some reason always inspire my imagination - what was there, and what we see now, remnants of a culture long gone - this is not a busy place, chances are you can pretty much wander around by yourself.

In the night the stalls disappear and are replaced by food hawkers, and bamboo mats are rolled out on the side walk in front of the stores. People hang out, eat something and socialize in this way. A vibrant street day and night and a real experience - make a selfie under the street sign!

The closest MacDonalds to where we are - about 2.5 KM, I estimate - to get there drive down Jalan Palagan to the Ring Road and make a right. You'll see it at the roundabout and flyover after a couple of hundreds meters. You take a grab taxi the cost is RP17.000 to get there (a little bit more than a dollar) It is open 24 hours and run very good - efficient, quick, even when it is busy - the best MCD to go in this city. By the way Gojek (motor cycle taxi) can also deliver to you).

Delicatessen - mostly import from various countries, fresh breads and pastry. We always go here to get everything that you can't buy in a normal supermarket here. Yummie. And also a good restaurant, large variety of steaks, home made sausages, burgers you name it.

Open 24 hours, close to where we are. Great coffee and a good menu. Cafe Brick is what the name suggests - a brick house - red bricks. It is nicely done, so if you have an urge for a late night coffee, this is where you can go.

In the South of the city, and one more location more central, but we always go to the south. Al fresco garden style dining. Really nice thin crust pizzas. And a complete Italian menu. Also serve beer. Our favorite pizza place.

Anna, who runs this place has a different approach to horses - more natural - no horseshoes for example are used. Our daughter had lessons here. It is just under 2 hours drive, and well worth it. And when you go there stop at the Teak Eatery & Living in Salatiga!

I don't play golf, but if you do this seems to be a good place and only 1.2 km from where we are. They also have a outdoor restaurant club style along the course, so it is also nice watch the people play. It is a relaxed watching spot.

This is considered the perfect place for serious wave surfing, Krakal Beach. About a 2 hours drive.
