Joseph's is one of the nicer restaurants in Elgin, good for when you want to dress up and go out but not have to drive all the way into Austin for a fancy dinner. The steaks are terrific (though not cheap) and they made me a great whiskey sour. What more could a gal want?

In my opinion, this is absolutely the best brisket in Texas. And I have eaten a LOT of Texas brisket. Mesquite slow-smoked by the same family I have known and respected for my 24 years living here, this brisket is not to be missed. Pick some up to bring back to studio, or sit down there in the store and grab some colas and chips. Be sure to get the bread and onions and pickles and sauce!
On some nights, Texas Beer Company hosts the Davis BBQ folks; lucky you if you get to combine these two great places.

Best tacos in Austin area! Orlando is also the friendliest taco seller around. It's worth the wait standing in line to get these tacos; that line is there for a good reason, I promise! If they haven't already sold out, order the Large tacos; the tortillas are handmade by Orlando's dad and are amazing.

Really good beer in an amazing renovated older building, right on busiest corner in Taylor. The owners and staff are very nice folks, and if you're lucky, Davis BBQ will be serving up their brisket, as they do some nights of the week. Like any good ole Texas beer joint or honky tonk, this is a family-friendly place so it's common to see small kids, teens, grandmas, etc all around a table together. Highly recommend this place!

It doesn't get any more authentic than this. The Cotton Club is one of my absolute favorite honky-tonks in Texas! If you want to boot scoot with the absolute best of the old school dancers, go there on a Sunday early evening and you will see every generation hit the floor (with the older ones showing up the youngin's, usually)! If you smile, you'll get asked to dance; it's a friendly group of neighbors who just love two-stepping (and waltzing and polkaing and every other Texas dance).

The Elgin Depot is a great place to learn more about the important role that trains played in the development of Elgin and the West in general. And the Depot itself is a cool building; it is the original train depot, but nicely and historically restored. It's right on Main Street, so close to several fun shops, antique stores, and restaurants.

Coupland dance hall is a really great honky tonk; suitable for all ages, everyone is welcome, and it gives a great taste of country music and country life in Texas. There's a restaurant right beside it. Just a really fun place to go to with your whole family, a group of friends, or just with your sweetie.

Beautiful and peaceful lake, with hardly any boats on it it all. Perfect for kayaking; borrow our two kayaks! Has a great swimming beach and loads of fishing.
