Nowadays, Monti is the most popular, together with Trastevere, quarter of the city, where the best hip cafés, bars, and vintage shops can be found. The Passeggiata del Gianicolo, from which you can enjoy one of the most evocative views of the historic center of Rome, consists of two large avenues lined with plane trees, bordering the Villa Aurelia, which meet in Piazzale Garibaldi.

Once a favorite of Roman aristocracy, Castel Gandolfo is home to the Pope’s summer residence and one of its main landmarks is indeed the Papal Palace.
