On a hill stands its silent guardian – a fortified small Romanesque church in Haluzice. The River Váh valley used to be protected by a system of fortified castles that provided some a degree of protection to local inhabitants against destructive raids of the enemy. Location of the small church; however, did not have any protective function in this system. Therefore, a stone wall with towers and loopholes was built around the church. In times of anguish, the church provided a temporary refuge to the locals.
First written account dates back to 1299, mentioning a siege of this piece of land of Matthew Czak “of Trenčín“ by the royal army.

As a result of the Czech patriotic movement, the Jubilee Regional Museum was founded at Uherský Brod in 1898. It's committed to John Amos Comenius (1592–1670)
a Czech theologian, philosopher, writer, educationalist and the last bishop of Unity of the Brethren. His life’s project has been the unification of all human knowledge and creation of ‘The Pansophy’ as a basis for the improvement of the life of the human society.
A Japanese karesansui garden is opened in the courtyard of building. The garden is open on weekdays during the Museum working hours (7:30–16:00).

This is the pearl of Czech viewing towers (911 m). After 45 minutes walk from our cottage, you can enjoy a nice view to White Carpathian area. If you want a longer hike, you can continue to Mikulčin vrch. This is a really pleasant hike.

The national nature reserve covers forest stands on the northern slopes of Mt. Velká Javořina (970 m) in the Bílé Karpaty (White Carpathian) mountain range and lies in the parish of Strání in the Zlínský kraj – Zlín Region. The NNR is on a territory of 165.89 ha at elevations between 560 and 935 metres above sea level. The reserve covers natural forest stands which are left to spontaneous development and mainly consist of beech, sycamore and ash, with a primeval character at the highest elevations. The buffer zone consists of the montane summit meadow.

Getting Around
In front of the pub Hostinec pod lipou is a bus station. If you arrive by bus, from here you have to walk up the hill. We recommend to stop at first at the pub, since you could be thirsty on your way up to our cottage.
