Cabin on Swede Hill

Welcome to "Cabin on Swede Hill". Our family has farmed this land since 1871. My great grandparents, Swan and Johanna Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, found this land which was similar to Sweden. They raised their family here. Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this community, became to be know as the "Swede Hills". We just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating the Sesquicentennial Award. Four season glamping dome under the stars

Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway for two, a solo remote work week in solitude surrounded by nature, or a family adventure, this 4-season geodesic dome is just the right place. Explore picturesque trails of Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, enjoy inground pool in summer, experience breathtaking sunsets over the farm fields, the starry skies by the bonfire, mesmerizing dance of fireflies in June, and let the frogs and crickets lull you to sleep in the place where time stands still...

YurtCation

YurtCation is an off-grid getaway with lake frontage and nature trails. There is another yurt about 300ft up the same driveway. There are a total of two yurts and two homes that have access to the same 17 acre lake. Each yurt has their own queen-sized comfy bed, wood stove, Weber grill w/charcoal, fire pit, firewood, fresh water, canoe, and clean Porto Potty. The yurts are about 80 feet from the lake’s ordinary high water mark to comply with zoning. We are fully permitted and have many repeats.

Quiet Retreat for Two

Spend a starry night in the country with the comfort of a soft bed, a wood stove, and plenty of space both indoors and out. Our yurt is located in a pocket of trees next to rolling farm fields and beautiful conservation land that the Rocklyn creek meanders through. You can prepare your meals in a sweet outdoor kitchen that is entirely screened in- or choose to sit by the fire. Bruce Trail access is just around the corner, and the towns of Meaford and Owen Sound are a short scenic drive away.

The gazebo has a nearby compostable toliet (shared with other guests), and just a 1 minute walk on a path in the woods to the main house (where the full bathroom is that can be used 9am-8pm).
