A short walk or bike ride takes you to the Johnson Creek Hike and Bike Trail, which leads to Ladybird Lake, Auditorium Shores, and Zilker Park (home of Barton Springs and the ACL Music Festival). A mile away, you'll find Deep Eddy Pool (spring fed and open year round), Lion's Municipal Golf Course (18 holes in the heart of Austin), and Lake Austin's waterfront dining. There is access to public transportation (bus) within walking distance (less than a mile). The walk is doable but not incredibly pedestrian friendly. Please note that Via Libre is an upstairs apartment without elevator access. Via Libre requires a 2 night minimum on weekends. We are happy to work with you to accommodate special requests. We can arrange to have your kitchen stocked in advance, prepare your room with flowers and wine, coordinate dry-cleaning, or help you develop an itinerary for your stay. Two blocks from Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park, this duplex has been recently renovated and is a perfect spot for checking out everything in Austin. Walking distance to the TownLake Trail, some really great restaurants and shopping. Nice side deck for outside eating/grilling with a good size fire pit and large table with chairs. Another private deck off the back bedroom overlooking secluded tree covered yard. Includes three bedrooms, two queen beds and one king.

The Johnson Creek Cabin is a guest house that sits at the back of same property as my home in the heart of central Austin. The main house is called “Upson House” and is also available for rent through Airbnb. The location is within walking distance of Zilker Park (ACL), many fine restaurants, shopping, downtown, public transportation, and yet is secluded enough to provide an unforgettable experience that includes much of the best of what makes Austin great.
