Peaceful hamlet on the edges of Coniston Water

Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains that old-world charm. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep. You can sit by a cosy fire or enjoy a walk/picnic by the lake on light evenings. We have made some Covid adjustments so that you feel reassured and safe during your stay. Do get in touch if you have queries. Hearty breakfast.... & super local walks ..included!

Double room above the market town of Penrith.

We have one private room which can sleep up to 2 people. This can be set up as either double or twin room, please request your preference on booking. There is WiFi in the room The kitchen and bathroom are shared. We also have laundry facilities. Pets welcome. Parking is available. Penrith is the ‘heart of the Lake District’ and a good place to start discovering this wonderful area. We are only minutes from M6 junction 40. We welcome cyclists and walkers. There is a secure hallway for cycles.

Perfectly peaceful locale for exploring the Lakes

'only a two minute walk to the edge of Esthwaite Water and the outskirts of the historic village of Hawkshead, this room is certainly well described as a peaceful place to explore the Lakes. Unique in that it has its own entrance. No need to walk through someone elses house or worry about keys after midnight. From potter to Grizedale forest adventures. Hiking to cycling or a local meander. No breakfast included to allow flexibility for the guest. It may be possible at an extra cost on request.

The Grainary at Highside Farm

The Grainary, renovated in 2017, is a historic Grade II listed barn that has witnessed centuries of transformation. Once a humble working barn, it evolved into a bustling grain store before being lovingly converted into a cosy king-sized bedroom. Perched between the farmyard and mountains, its position offers break-taking views over Bassenthwaite Lake, and the eastern slopes of Ullock Pike, providing an unforgettable backdrop to your stay. Breakfast can be included as an additional extra.

'Probably the best Airbnb we have stayed at.' Canadian guests, Sep, 2024. Our Lakeland Farmhouse, High Park in the English Lake District, is in the centre of a World Heritage Site. It was built in 1620, once owned by Beatrix Potter, surrounded by hills and trees, and with astounding views. At night, the silence is total. We offer a king-size double bed, satellite TV and WIFI, your own bathroom too with great water pressure and piping hot water. Plus your own downstairs sitting/dining room .

Set on the Dales Way, in the heart of the Lake District National Park lies Cragg House Farm. This working family farm now doubles up as a luxurious 2 room B&B. Run by Liz, alongside my husband Edward who manages the farm. Cragg House over looks acres of land occupied by livestock and panoramic views of the fells. The tranquil farm is only two miles outside of Bowness-on-Windermere. There are great local pubs and eateries and walks. There is even a golf course less than half a mile away.

The house is situated on a quiet cul de sac in Kendal, a 10/15 min walk from the mainline train station, Oxenholme Station, and a 20-25 minute walk into town. The bedroom is on the ground floor with an ensuite private shower room. We are close to the hospital, ideal if need somewhere to stay if you are working there for a week or two. Breakfast is provided for you in the utility room, you are welcome to use our dining room.
