There's a reason why this restaurant is always voted #1. We had the best meal of our entire lives at this spot and it's the one place we always recommend. It doesn't matter what you get on the menu... close your eyes and point at something... doesn't matter - it will be amazing. Locally sourced, organic, and farm-to-table, you will be talking about this place for years to come.

Emmer & Rye is a restaurant designed around the farmer’s haul, featuring a menu that changes daily with a focus on seasonal and local cuisine. Heirloom grains are milled fresh for house made pastas, breads, and desserts, whole animal butchery is done on site, and an extensive in house fermentation program captures flavors at their peak and preserves them for the off season.

Great spot for a date night or celebratory special occasion meal. They work directly with ranchers, farmers, and foragers to curate a menu centered around what's thriving around us in Central Texas each and every day. Also do their own in house milling of grains. Menus change daily.

Seasonally inspired farm to table restaurant serving American cuisine in a Dim Sum Style. My favorite high-end dining nearby. From the Statesman 2018 Best Restaurants in Austin: #1: Emmer & Rye 51 RAINEY ST., SUITE 110 A small larder sits between the bar area and open kitchen at Emmer & Rye. The closet holds a selection of Mason jars that contain the restaurant’s current fermentation projects. At some point, those culinary science experiments will make their way to your plate — maybe in the form of wild Texas plum umeboshi, or mesquite vinegar. Larder is kind of a nerdy (and vintage) word for pantry. Airing episodes of “The Splendid Table” over the bathroom speakers is also kind of nerdy. But the folks at Emmer & Rye have turned their obsessive passions into pleasure for guests, transmuting science to art. Mining their brains to make you feel good. The restaurant helped educate diners about the importance of heritage grains in a capital-driven society usually looking to squeeze every dollar out of commercial food production. But their milling of ancient grains to make bread and pasta isn’t just a lesson in economics, sustainability or anthropology. It’s a study in flavor and textures.
