The chapel is a non-denominational sanctuary for prayer, meditation, and spiritual renewal. Open daily to the public, 365 days a year from sunrise to sunset. The grounds surrounding the chapel as well as the structure itself were the gifts of Sea Ranch residents, Robert and Betty Buffum. Dedicated in memory of Kirk Ditzler, a navy aviator, zoologist, and artist, the Chapel is maintained and cared for by a foundation. Visit thesearanchchapel.org for more information.

Experience the beauty and serenity of The Sea Ranch Chapel a non-denominational sanctuary for prayer, meditation, and spiritual renewal .Located at Mile Marker 55.5 on Highway 1 this is a most unexpected sight that you may buzz by without knowing it's there. That would be a shame since it's one of the most interesting pieces of architectural whimsy you're likely to see along this bucolic part of California. There is an unusual serenity to be found with the swooping design and intimate interior. The elaborate doors with stained glass inlays are made of teak, and the walls inside are redwood. The white plaster ceiling is meant to look like flower petals crowning the small but airy space. All the mosaic flooring and stained glass windows give the impression of natural shapes responding to the sea and the wind. A local couple in Sea Ranch, Robert and Betty Buffum, generously commissioned San Diego architect James T. Hubbell to design it in 1984. Frank Lloyd Wright would have applauded the chapel's conformity with nature. Many visitors consider this to be the highlight of their Sea Ranch visit.

A really cute non-denominational chapel located on Sea Ranch property. It's open for all residents and guests of the Sea Ranch. It's a beautiful building and a good place to go for a quick prayer or a few moments of reflection.

Gorgeous and unique architecture! Make sure to walk around the chapel to take it in at every angle. Once inside the chapel, it is a peaceful space for meditation.
