Welcome to "Cabin on Swede Hill". Our family has farmed this land since 1871. My great grandparents, Swan and Johanna Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, found this land which was similar to Sweden. They raised their family here. Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this community, became to be know as the "Swede Hills". We just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating the Sesquicentennial Award. The Horseshoe Casino, Wolf Lake & Pavilion, Hammond Sportsplex, Calumet College, PNW, IUN, U of Chicago, BP, & golf courses are a short drive. See Chicago's Skyline at Lakefront Park. Chicago's attractions & Hard Rock Casino are < 30 mins away.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. "Barn" turned into a guesthouse on 4 acres of owners residential property where you will enjoy peace and quiet, take a walk on trails through 2 acres of woods, take a short drive to Lake Michigan or the Indiana Dunes National Park or just sit inside at an electric fireplace. We are located 5.9 miles (approximately 12 minutes) from the Dunes National Park. Second STR available on same property that also sleeps 5 people if you have a group!

Private Cottage in Gated Nudist Community

We offer a private cottage on the grounds of Lake O the Woods Club. Cottage has Queen size bed, air conditioning, heater, refrigerator, microwave, TV, coffee maker, work/dining area, private deck and porta-potty. Payment of club daily grounds fee ($30-$60) is optional . Pricing on club website. There is no running water in the cottage. Bathrooms, showers, hot tub, sauna and swimming pool are available at the clubhouse and pool area after payment of grounds fees.

Miller Mermaid Suite-100 yds from the beach!

100 yds from the beach, the cozy MERMAID BASEMENT SUITE is best for a young family or 2-3 adult friends. This 400 sq ft artsy basement/studio includes: private entrance, kitchenette, unique art, cozy reading/sleeping nook. There is one small window with no lake view but you can see the lake from the upstairs deck. BBQ on the grill. Visit local restaurants, shops & galleries. Hike wooded trails & swim by sandy, dune-grass beaches. . House-trained dogs welcome!

Private guest house newly remodeled. One bedroom queen bed, bath w/shower, full kitchen stocked, including microwave and Keurig coffee maker pods included, family room TV, and WIFI. No matter if you are in town for work, sport competition, family or just vacationing we offer all the comforts of home. Air Mattress available upon request. Please treat as your own home, follow all house rules. No party or gatherings. This is a no smoking home.

This is a rustic cottage with old world charm. There are 2 fireplaces,. The home sits on a hill overlooking the channel that leads to Flint Lake. - Pet free -May not be appropriate for people with mobility issues. - Earth friendly cleaning products - Private beach & park access - Easy access to city center & university - One hour from downtown Chicago - National Lakeshore and Dunes State Park nearby - Wood fireplaces (winter only!)
